We are extremely impressed with this litter.  Collectively, the consistency between each of the pups has been spectacular.  Desire for days in the hunt field and full of tranquility when it’s time to snuggle with their favorite people. Each of these young dogs have seen multiple days of public land wild bird hunting their first season; a breeder’s dream start to a developing talented wild bird dogs. We can’t wait to watch the journey these three pups take their families on…it is going to be spectacular!

When we are asked to describe what we want in a wild bird dog, we entertain phrases such as intelligent critical thinking, cooperative independence and inherent determination.  In short, dogs that at their core have a desire to work and please their owner from a sheer joy that exudes from every fiber of their being.  All of these attributes become quantitatively assessed through a pedigree such as this stacked with Versatile Champions, UT Prize 1’s, Master Hunters, Dual Champions, Field Champions and NASTRA Champions.  A melding of some of the most spectacular bloodlines known to the Versatile Shorthair comprise the genetic package seen in this breeding.

VC SAM'S FREIHEIT LJ GIBBS

VC Sam’s Freiheit LJ Gibbs belongs to Jeff and Amber Rucker of Maximum Effort Kennels and was featured in the December 2019 issue of Versatile Hunting Dog (VHD) magazine as the working pickup dog for 2019 NAVHDA Invitationals double mark test. Gibbs is the offspring and lineage of DC VC Walnut Hills Sam Man (Sire) and VC Friedelshiem Lucy (Grandmother). Gibb’s dam is a full sister to DC AFC NSGPA RU VC Friedelshiem’s Freight Train Mason MH and VC Friedelshiem’s High Octane MH. Gibbs is a stellar gun dog in the field and in the rivers chasing ducks in Virginia. Gibbs passed the 2018 NAVHDA Invitational at the young age of 37 months with a score of 196. Gibbs is a house dog first, keeping things interesting within the Rucker household with numerous shenanigans of hiding under the covers during nap times. Gibbs’ passion is working the fields chasing birds. Gibbs is a high drive, long casting GSP ranging from 100-400 yards. Gibbs will let you know where the birds are when he goes on point as his pointing is unmistakable. Gibbs has an almost insatiable desire for water work both for play and while hunting. Gibbs is the only dog that will do four 115 yard blinds, come back, swing to heel, deliver the duck and ask to be sent again.

“Gibbs has the most extraordinary desire to work I’ve seen in NAVHDA. Gibbs works with a purpose! Rarely have I seen a GSP that needs little to no duck search training due to his work ethic. Gibbs pointing is spectacularly breathtaking and undeniable. If you’re looking for a constant and consistent gun dog, you will not be disappointed in Gibbs” ~ Kyle Hough (Gibb’s Trainer)

VC OUTLANDERS NOBLE REFLECTION

VC Outlanders Noble Reflection (Elsa) is a joy to hunt behind. She has an innate ability to adapt to different cover and hunt effectively in a variety of terrains. From the mountains of Colorado hunting blue grouse to the prairies of South Dakota chasing pheasants, she is in her element. Elsa is a methodical and focused hunter that has been a pleasure to train. Her cooperation really showed while training for the NAVHDA Invitational as she learned the tasks quickly and with ease. Elsa loves to back! She will honor with as much intensity and focus as she points regardless of her distance from the other dog in the field. She is consistently the same dog day in and day out, on every bird contact. Her honesty lends to her ability to be handled by anybody, including our 6 year old daughter. She has begun taking Elsa to obedience, showmanship and agility training sessions to prepare for 4-H and AKC competition. Elsa received a max score of 200 at the 2019 NAVHDA Invitational. She has 4 legs of her Master Hunter completed and will continue working on this title in the spring of 2020.
