When we were picking a name for this stylish girl, we decided to find a German name meaning “noble.” Little did we know at the time that this would be the perfect description of this flashy female that has always had a regal self confidence that comes from within. The first time Elsa was on birds at 8 weeks, she stood on point frozen taking in the scent of that chukar. There was no movement between either dog or bird as her focus never deterred from the job at hand.

Elsa is a dog that has always desired to be challenged. Developing a consistent and successful tracking style at a very young age, we challenged her with long, winding track that allowed her to develop her swift style. With her hot ticking and dark, rich liver color Elsa turns heads the second she hops out of the truck. Her flashy, stylish marking truly matches her abilities in the field. Elsa has an incredibly quick search in the field that allows her to cover ground so fluidly yet she accomplishes it with such grace and swiftness that anyone watching her is truly mesmerized. There are so many times we will wonder how she got from Point A to Point B as quickly as she did that we often describe her as a ninja…silent and stealthy. She always knows where you are in the field checking in from a distance when your eyes meet. With her desire to use the wind to her advantage, Elsa has developed a very successful and methodical manner of working a field.

A lot of conversations in NAVHDA revolve around dogs that have the mental stability to handle multiple different tasks in one day. Elsa is one of those dogs that is a truly focused hunter and yet a pleasure to train daily. Her cooperation really showed while training for the NAVHDA Invitational as she learned the tasks quickly and with ease. Elsa received a max score of 200 at the 2019 NAVHDA Invitational.

Elsa will honor with as much intensity and focus as she points regardless of her distance from the other dog in the field. It is not unusual to hear people throw out a “wow” or a whistle when she hits a back in the field…it is really hard not to comment when you watch how joyfully she works with another dog.

She is consistently the same dog day in and day out, on every bird contact. Her desire to please is so great that she requires almost no reminders of her foundation. She can enjoy time as a family dog and head right back out to the field and never miss a beat. Her honesty lends to her ability to be handled by anybody, including our 6 year old daughter, Kaytlyn. She has begun taking Elsa to obedience, showmanship and agility training sessions to prepare for 4-H and AKC competitions. Elsa shows her personality to the fullest when she is with Kaytlyn. Elsa’s laser focus is so intense as she desires to please and earn giggles and treats from her young handler. There is no doing things half-way. Every sit, recall, speed change is done with such precision that you would think they have been teamed up forever.

Elsa is the daughter of No-Mars Mack Vom Hauss UT-I and Outlanders Crystal Image UT-I. DC Hillhaven’s Hustler and Int CH Shooting Starr’s Sharp Shooter MH have a significant impact on this star studded pedigree that includes 6 continuous generations of UT-I dogs and 11 Versatile Champion in 5 generations.
